Thank you so much! Yeah... the fireplaces were a bit of a problem. However, I read up on the mechanics on how fire travels and I built it so it cannot catch any wooden features on fire. Hmm... didn't consider the lightning though...

Oh, lol. I meant more in RP terms. Anyone attacking your castle will make darn sure to land some flame-y bits and nasties on your roof. (You know I think there's actually a song about this...)
Ahh, yes! This is true. Flaming catapults would ruin my little castle pretty quick.
My grand plan involves using the mountain immediately to the east of my current settlement as well as the smaller mountain to the north east. The eastern mountain is going to be the legislative branch of my kingdom, the north west peak being the judicial. I'm imagining a system in which the king holds most of the power, but still has a legislative body to make recommendations and a judicial body to enforce the laws. I then plan to populate the areas in between and around with houses and shops and other structures you'd see in a medieval town. Furthermore, I plan on building a larger wall that surrounds the entire mountain area. If I'm gonna commit to a RP scenario, I suppose that second wall would have to be far enough from my wooden structures to prevent the trajectory of a flaming projectile to cause havoc.
My argument against stone roofs are two fold. First and foremost, as a civil engineer, I think about load transfer and weights. Each stone block is 1 meter x 1 meter x 1 meter... or 1 m^3. The average weight of stone is 2500 kg/m^3.
So doing some math now using my Church/Temple roof as an example: Length = 24 m Width = 18 m Depth = 1 m Volume = 24 x 18 x 1 = 432 m^3
Weight = 432 m^3 x 2500 kg/m^3 = 1,080,000 kg
Converting to pounds and we get a 2.4 million pound roof. That's a heavy roof.
Secondly, on a less technical, more aesthetic side, I just think the wooden roofs look good.
Weight = 432 m^3 x 2500 kg/m^3 = 1,080,000 kg
Converting to pounds and we get a 2.4 million pound roof. That's a heavy roof.
Secondly, on a less technical, more aesthetic side, I just think the wooden roofs look good.
Weight = 432 m^3 x 2500 kg/m^3 = 1,080,000 kg
Converting to pounds and we get a 2.4 million pound roof. That's a heavy roof.
Secondly, on a less technical, more aesthetic side, I just think the wooden roofs look good. Thank you so much! Yeah... the fireplaces were a bit of a problem. However, I read up on the mechanics on how fire travels and I built it so it cannot catch any wooden features on fire. Hmm... didn't consider the lightning though...

Thank you so much! Yeah... the fireplaces were a bit of a problem. However, I read up on the mechanics on how fire travels and I built it so it cannot catch any wooden features on fire. Hmm... didn't consider the lightning though...

Let me know if you are fine with it.
Thanks and awesome work with the castle
Yup, feel free to use whatever you'd like!
Just a heads up, some of the buildings are unfinished, especially the interiors. I plan on adding another 4-5 large structure on the mountain and filling the remaining space in with smaller domiciles/shops/etc...

So doing some math now using my Church/Temple roof as an example:
Length = 24 m
Width = 18 m
Depth = 1 m
Volume = 24 x 18 x 1 = 432 m^3
Weight = 432 m^3 x 2500 kg/m^3 = 1,080,000 kg
Converting to pounds and we get a 2.4 million pound roof. That's a heavy roof.
Secondly, on a less technical, more aesthetic side, I just think the wooden roofs look good. IMO

Thank you so much! Yeah... the fireplaces were a bit of a problem. However, I read up on the mechanics on how fire travels and I built it so it cannot catch any wooden features on fire. Hmm... didn't consider the lightning though...
I appreciate the input!

Hi there,
I was wondering if I could feature your creation on my next minecraft 360 degrees video?
It would be similar to a friend of mine who made this creation:
The Medieval Castle: https://youtu.be/3-iAYPeZ8q8
Let me know if you are fine with it.
Thanks and awesome work with the castle
Yup, feel free to use whatever you'd like!
Just a heads up, some of the buildings are unfinished, especially the interiors. I plan on adding another 4-5 large structure on the mountain and filling the remaining space in with smaller domiciles/shops/etc...

Thanks and awesome work with the castleaws.
So doing some math now using my Church/Temple roof as an example:
Length = 24 m
Width = 18 m
Depth = 1 m
Volume = 24 x 18 x 1 = 432 m^3
Weight = 432 m^3 x 2500 kg/m^3 = 1,080,000 kg
Converting to pounds and we get a 2.4 million pound roof. That's a heavy roof.
Secondly, on a less technical, more aesthetic side, I just think the wooden roofs look good. IMO

Thanks and awesome work with the castlement as well as the smaller mountain to the north east.
