About this world

This is from our invite only server. This is the 3rd regeneration of the entire world. We get about 6 players playing most nights. With a number of players staying online for long periods doing their own thing.

There is no community project yet, so everyone does their own thing with a few friends they've invited to the server.

I wonder if its worth having multiple maps being process at the same time? Possibly some sort of size cap for the 2nd one generating? Eg, if a map is currently processing, then start a second map processing if its less than 50mb?

Also I would have liked the option to disable certain map modes, or even to process them later? Such as cave mode, and maybe different zoom levels?
Yeah good ideas. I'm experimenting with processing 2 maps at the same time but it does put a little bit of load on the server.

The forum topic might be a better place to discuss this though. That would allow more people to get involved...

You're completely correct ChiggenWingz. The limit right now is around 1GB and uploading a world of this size is NOT an abuse of this service. I encourage large uploads. It's fun and interesting to see maps of all sizes, big and small!

It is frustrating with the backlog of rendering that's happening but that's something I'm keeping an eye on. It's still early in the launch (only been 3 days) so I don't know if this is something that's going to be a continuous problem and requires some adjustment to my process or if it's just part of starting out.

This service provides a google earth like experience, renders the huge map so I don't need to use my computer to do it and everyone on the server can view it easily. I find these small test maps being generated a waste of time. Each of them can be done very quickly in any mapper program, and most of them appear to be simply for people that just want to look at their personal map.

If the site owner didn't want large maps uploaded he wouldn't have set the cap to 1gb.
